Those that know me well, will know that my life revolves around travel, Pomeranians and self-care. As my travel plans are being heavily vetoed by the end of the financial year, my dog is currently on vacay and the weather in February is a hot mess (hold the hot). Self-care is featuring heavily at the top of my to do list.

After battling outlook, the tube and dealing with my work bag entering its GCSE drama era by sliding off my shoulder at every given opportunity. I was more than ready to shed my corporate layers and recline in a luxurious setting.
I entered a world of pure indulgence the moment I arrived. The air was filled with opulent, calming scents, the interiors were plush and inviting, and the soft lighting created a serene atmosphere. It felt like stepping into a tranquil oasis nestled in the heart of bustling Kensington.
Choosing Your Perfect Treatment
The hardest thing for me was choosing a treatment as currently I’m emulating the “Frazzled English Woman” trend a little too accurately.
I opted for the 1 hour back, neck and shoulder massage, priced at £75, which targets tension in the upper body helping to relieve stress, enhance relaxation and improve flexibility. After a day sat at my desk with the posture that can only describe as a cooked shrimp, a massage was more than needed.
The treatment rooms are the perfect place to unwind. Scented with rose aromatherapy oil and equipped with everything you need to relax. Each room includes a private changing area, a refreshing shower, a comfy robe, and a wonderfully calming atmosphere. Once wrapped in my fluffy robe I felt the corporate twitch of teams’ notifications fading into nonexistence.

Bayou Spa Review: Back, Neck & Shoulder Massage
I requested medium/ firm pressure as I carry all my tension in my neck and shoulders. I was contemplating being brave and asking for firm pressure, but I still get PTSD from that one massage I had in Thailand when I was folded like a pretzel, but that’s a story for another day.
Sonia was an absolute delight and put me at ease straight away, she asked if I’d like to tie my hair up (absolutely as it wasn’t a hair wash day) and began kneading my back like a particularly stubborn baguette being warmed and softened.
I may have achieved peak massage relaxation—so much so that I resurfaced vaguely unsure of the current date. After changing back into people clothes and a valiant (but ultimately losing) battle against massage-induced bedhead, I ascended to the velvet couch for a mint tea, feeling fully Zen and (almost) ready to take on my commute home.
Which manager do I need to speak to, to get massage added to our company benefits because wow.

Bayou Spa Review: Tips for your trip:
- Book ahead! Don’t let your dream spa day become a spa nightmare. Bliss awaits those who plan.
- Pack a hair tie – No one wants to be swatting away flyaways when they’re trying to unwind.
- Bring a comfy gym set to change into after your treatment – jeans after a massage? Hard pass.
