Let’s face it – I’m not getting any younger, and I’m no Benjamin Button! If there’s a lotion, potion or soluble collagen tablet that can help the ageing process go that little bit smoother, I’m going to give it a whirl.
Collagen is a protein that gives structure to hair, skin and nails as well as acting as a glue to hold our joints and bones together. So pretty important then? As we age (everything goes downhill) and we produce less collagen which can lead to dry skin, wrinkles and weakened hair. Yay for ageing. So as I had previously made a pact with myself to take better care of my skin, I decided collagen tablets would be a good start…
Beauty Collagen – the secret to healthy ageing?
Today I’m reviewing collagen tablets and gummies as Bioglan Beauty very kindly gifted me two products from their range to try out. Firstly the package came with a cute little note which was not only personalised but mentioned a blog post of mine that they had particularly liked and explained why the brand has chosen me to review their products, which was just the sweetest!
I wanted to use them consistently for over a month before reporting back, so I could give an honest opinion on them and let you all know how I got on.
Beauty Collagen Effervescent tablets
First up we have the Beauty Collagen effervescent tablets – effectively Berroca for your hair and skin. The tablets contain 1000mg of Hydrolysed Marine Collagen, Biotin and Vitamin C and surprisingly taste pretty good!
Most of the time when companies say “delicious berry flavour” in relation to supplements, they mean “disgusting artificial flavouring – hold your nose to drink”, but in this instance that wasn’t the case.
They recommend dissolving a tablet into a glass of water twice a day and at £8.99 for 10 tablets, they’re not bank-breakingly expensive, They tasted nice and were the perfect supplement to keep in my desk drawer.
While it’s difficult to measure immediate results with supplements such as these, my skin has felt and looked good for the last month or so which I’ve been happy with.
Beauty Collagen Gummies
Next up we have the Beauty Collagen gummies. These are very easy to take (2 a day) but I won’t lie – I really wasn’t a huge fan of the strawberry flavour.
I will caveat that I am fussy with artificial flavours though and I have a bit of history with gummy supplements, in the sense that I once chewed a cod liver oil tablet by accident and I’m still not quite over it…
At £18.99 these are slightly more expensive but you do get 60 gummies per pot – so they will last you a lot longer. Again these gummies contain 1000mg of Hydrolysed Marine Collagen, Biotin & Vitamin C and were handy to keep at work and incorporate into my day.
The Verdict
I incorporated the Bioglan Collagen products into my morning routine, either taking the effervescent tablets or gummies for over a month and I’ve noticed some small improvements.
As I said above, it’s hard to judge whether taking these supplements have had a direct effect on my skin and hair over the trial period.
That being said, I’ve been happy with the elasticity of my skin over the last month and my nails have felt stronger. With continued use, I feel that the results would be more obvious and therefore would purchase from Bioglan again.
Post update: 14th June – I recently tried some liquid Collagen supplements – review available here.
*The products shown in this post were gifted, but all opinions are my own
I am 62 and just bought BIOGLAN tablets to have a try to see if it works.
