NYK1 TanForce: Review

Tanning has always been a huge part of my life, I just always feel 3,000 times better with a golden glow. But my tanning journey hasn’t always gone smoothly and I’ve ended up looking like I’d rolled around in Doritos on more than one occasion…

For one that tans as much as I do, you’d think I’d be a pro by now. But this is also the girl that walked around wearing the guide colour for years, not knowing that you were supposed to, y’know, wash it off. Sigh. 

I always get a little nervy before trying out a new tan as you never really know what shade you’re going to go, if it will be even or if you’re going to be inadvertently hired by Willy Wonka. But when Babushka PR got in touch and asked if I’d like to try NYK1 TanForce, I thought why not live life on the edge. So let’s get cracking with the review, shall we…

Tan prep

First up, I exfoliate within an inch of my life, to get myself to full white walker status before applying primer. Before I tan I always apply some tan primer to my hands, feet and knees to avoid the “tide lines” left by some tans, not mentioning any names (St Moriz). I just can’t get down with looking like I’ve dipped my hands in BBQ sauce anymore, it’s not a strong look. So once we’re prepped and primed it’s time to get that golden glow on.

NYK1 TanForce: The application

The only risky part of the NYK1 secrets tan is that the foam is completely clear and it dries almost instantly so you can’t see where you’ve previously applied or haven’t applied the tan. Initially, I thought this was going to be a mare and I’d end up with a stripy leg, but if you’re systematic in the way you apply you’ll be absolutely fine. The mousse is non-dehydrating which means it doesn’t dry out your skin which can be a problem with a lot of tanning products.

NYK1 TanForce: The smell

Here’s the exciting thing – NO BISCUIT SMELL. I repeat no bourbons here huns. The tan does have a very very faint smell but compared to the odour of most tans I would pick this one all day long! It also dries so quickly that colour transfer onto clothes isn’t an issue either, you can literally apply in 10 mins and pop your clothes back on, no problemo. Rather than wandering around the house like a cold naked zombie avoiding windows/flashing the neighbours.

NYK1 TanForce: The colour

You can apply the tan in the morning and wash it off in the afternoon and be tanned for tea time/ or your big night out. Or you can go rogue like me and apply before bed and wake up tanned to the max. Always like to live life on the edge and try out a new tan by leaving it on for 24 hours, such a thrill seeker. I was super pleased with the results as you’ll have probably seen from my insta stories – the tan was completely even and an offered a deep but natural colour.

NYK1 TanForce: The price

You can pick up Tanforce for £32.95 which comes with a mega mitt and a mini mitt (which is handy for tanning your face and neck). You can get cheaper tans on the high street but will the results be as good – I doubt it. I’ve been using the tan for a few weeks – reapplying every 10-14 days and there’s so much left, it really is good value for money.

The verdict

I’m always 100% honest in my reviews and always warn PR’s and brands that I’m not a blogger that says everything is amazing if it’s not. But I can honestly say that this is the best tan I’ve used in a LONG while, the fact that you can put it on before bed and wake up golden is so convenient. And the colour of the tan is so natural and glowy. Have I faked it or have I just popped to the south of France for a few weeks, who even knows. Recommend!
